Brad Jackson has over twenty-five years of experience in economic development, specializing in the fields of business attraction (foreign direct investment) and business retention and expansion. He has led regional public authorities in the states of New York and Maine, and has successfully navigated the issues economic development organizations face securing inward investment. He is based in Boston, MA.

Cross border business development and interregional cooperation as an economic development strategy are two of Brad’s passionate interests as a practicing economic development professional. Brad has also worked internationally, spearheading business development in post conflict areas, and represented the interests of Iraq at international donor conferences and with the World Bank on the initial discussions of debt forgiveness. He was a Civil Affairs Officer in the United States Army (an Economist) involved in post conflict reconstruction and development.

His extensive international development experience and overseas deployments have made him culturally adaptable. Undergraduate and graduate degrees in political science, economics and international relations piqued his interest in cross-border economic and business development. His primary interest is economic geography which allows him to assess regions and their place in the international division of labor. Brad cites this discipline as the most significant for practicing economic development professionals. It is also useful to assessing international supply chains. He has also used the insights acquired from this discipline to train NATO forces on how to approach stability operations and nation building.
